General Orientation or GO is the first part of orientation. On this orientation, I got a lot of explaination on Binus University itself as well as other terms and conditions applied on Binus University. On the first day, we, Binusian 2019 (Binus University new students for 2015 nickname), got a binder contains informations on FEP, Binus University, and college life in Binus. Besides that, of course I also got new friends.
On this GO, we started with introducing ourself and introduction about Binus University. One of it is mars Binusian. It is one of the official song of Binus University. The other one is mars Bina Nusantara.
We also got to do the Opening Ceremony for the new students. On this ceremony, we were asked to bring helium balloons for the end of the ceremony. We also learned about college life in Binus University, including learn how to use Binusmaya, Binus’ online web portal for students and lecturers to access all informations and services. Not forget, there were also holistic session.
During this GO, we were guided by Buddy Coordinators (BC), which were very friendly. They will try their best to answer all of our questions. They even dare to share their own personal experience and their college life at Binus University.
I know that it may not seems like other universities’ orientation. There are nothing like pranks or evil tasks, but that does not mean that the GO is boring. In fact, during the GO, we still have a lot of fun and we often laugh together with the BC. The last part of the GO is to perform in front of other classes. We did a funny performance using Captain Tsubasa’s theme song.
Before we ended this GO, we had a chance to go through the Expo, which is an event on Syahdan Campus for us, new students, to sign up for organizations and communities. Personally, I signed up for the computer club and mandarin club.
One thing for sure, we didn’t just do things seriously during this GO but we also had fun with it. Through the GO, we also learn some morales values such as togetherness and friendship.
That is how I experience Binus University’s General Orientation. Want to know what’s next? Check out the next post!
