Hey there! How is it going? Just couple of days ago, I got myself into Himti’s event, HTTP 2015. Himti is Binus University’s Computer Science students organization. That means Himti is only for Computer Science students. Meanwhile, HTTP is Himti Togetherness and Top Performance, which is an event to welcome new students in Binus University School of Computer Science.
The event itself took place in BPPT 2 in Jakarta. We got there by bus provided by Himti. This event was attended by almost 1000 new students, from both Binus Kemanggisan and Binus Alam Sutera. This year, HTTP’s topic is SHINE, Strengthening Harmony & Inspiring New Experiences.
When we got there, we were welcomed by several students from Computer Science, who gave us a showcase on their applications projects. All of them are really cool. Some of them are mobile applications such as Math Maze, and others are desktop applications. However, it’s not just any desktop application, one of them uses Kinect technology to integrate their app through hand interaction.
After looking through all of the apps showcase, we got in to the main auditorium where me and my friends sat on the lower floor on the front seat. After waiting for a couple of hours (by watching a movie), the event started. The first part of the event is opening and band performance. Besides giving a short speech, Mr. Fredy Purnomo, dean of Binus School of Computer Science, also introduced us to our lecturers. After Himti’s band performance, we were given a break time for lunch, which were provided by Himti.
After break, we resume the event through talkshow. The main theme of the talkshow is technopreneur through web application. The guests were Laksamana Mustika, founder and CEO of Elven Digital and Tyovan Ari, founder and CEO of Bahaso.com. Both of them taught us to not be afraid to start a startup, never give up, and be active through organization at university. Both of them are truly inspiring.
Then, it’s time for visualization. This is a drama about new students joining Himti organization. After another break, came the final part of HTTP 2015. Guest star, doorprize and DJ filled out this final part. Also, we were given the time to wear our almamater jacket as a symbol to officially announces us as School of Computer Science students. Before we went back to Binus University Anggrek Campus, we got ourself a HTTP t-shirt plus Himti pin, Himti kit dvd, and some drinks.
All of us had a great time at HTTP 2015 Shine. This event is not just about welcoming new students but also about having fun together as students and starting a new journey to success. Hopefully this event will become a stepping stone for a greater future.
